Just in time for another batch of Christmas cards, the Stamp Something ladies came up with this challenge. I pulled out my Dashing designer paper and went to town. I just went over a few selected areas of my stamped image with a gold pen to add some shimmer.
In honor of Black Friday, the Stamp Something blog challenged readers to use black somewhere in a card. I used the branches from my retired "All Season Wreath" to make a Christmas wreath, then hand-cut flowers from the Holiday Treasures designer paper and scattered them around the wreath. A bow of Riding Hood Red, with silver "sleigh bells" made from Holiday Treasures DP (punched out the snowflakes) and silver brads, adds a whimsical touch. My sentiment is a Season of Cheer rub-on (note: still on sale until Sunday!).
I'm having such fun playing with the beautiful poinsettia print that's part of the Holiday Treasures Designer Series Paper. This time it's part of a card based on Jen Del Muro's Sketch for You to Try. There are lots more layers than I usually do but I got a little carried away.
This holiday card has an old fashioned feel to it, courtesy of the designer paper and the new In Color "Riding Hood Red" (card stock and ribbon) which goes so wonderfully with Pink Pirouette (I usually don't find combining red and pink very appealing, but these two work well together). I used my scallop edge punch to quickly fashion a nice border at the bottom of my wide panel. My sentiment is from the stamp set "All Holidays". The sketch is Julee's Mojo Monday 57.
This cute little guy is in the Punch Pals stamp set and I can already tell this is one of those sets that I *won't* sell used later on... :-) In addition to using Beate's sketch, I took on the SCS challenge of using a cute critter on a Christmas card. I just stamped him in black and colored him in with markers (Basic Black, Real Red, and Pumpkin Pie), super easy. I also made my own charm by stringing the pearl and crystal bead on some silver cording and looping it around the back of my medallion (made by turning the scallop just a tick in my Scallop Circle punch). My paper is from last year's Dashing which I am hoarding. Thanks for looking!
Using this week's Color Throwdown, I CASEd this card by 2bKrafty who was spotlighted in Sharon's "No Time to Stamp" challenge. Lots of punches made short work of my Christmas-y scalloped flower. I ran my Real Red panel through my Cuttlebug to emboss the swirls, echoing my stamped filligree swirls from the "Season of Joy" stamp set. I'm so glad Stampin' Up! pulled this set from last year's Occasions mini-catalog and is offering it once again in the Fall/Winter Catalog -- it's so darling!
The OCC Sketch Challenge by Jennifer Meyer and the OCC Dry Embossing Challenge were combined for this card, as I so often do when I'm behind on my card making activities. I used my "Punch Pals" stamp set for the snowman, hand colored with markers and then glittered up with Dazzling Diamonds and my 2-Way Glue Pen. Some SU! dimensionals help him stand out a bit more. I layered some Wintergreen Designer Paper, adding Signo White Pen to the dots on the smallest rectangle, distressing the edges and running them along the side of my Always Artichoke ink pad.
This card features the Holiday Harmony DP from the mini catalog. I stamped the swirl in Versamark on non-SU textured cs, adding the little poinsettias colored with my pink glitter marker. Then I triple -matted the DP, using my two SU oval punches for "joy". I stamped the tree in Always Artichoke on Whisper White cs (nicked the corners with my ticket corner punch) and added a little DP to the left side. A tidbit of Purely Pomegranate double-stitched ribbon finishes it off.
After finding a cute template for Snowman Soup mugs on Splitcoast Stampers (which I of course can't find right now, but here's another one), I decided to make these for little cousins and neighborhood friends. I traced the template onto the large cardboard piece that came with my Designer Papers and cut it out. Then I retraced it on Whisper White cardstock in pencil and cut it out with my fabulous Paper Snips scissors. Instead of wrestling with the inside of the handle, I just used my large oval punch to cut it out, which worked great. I'm still not happy with the smoothness of the edges, but what are ya gonna do?!
I've been watching a thread on Splitcoast Stampers about simple one layer cards and came across these by SCS member tigeriss. I was inspired to create this one for my mother-in-law to send out.
I've been working on improving some of my techniques by using Splitcoaststampers tutorials, which are absolutely fabulous. I created this Christmas card by cutting out an oval mask (using my Creative Memories cutting tools) and laying the oval hole over navy card stock. Using white craft ink, I stamped several different snowflakes from the Snowflake Spot and the little poinsettia from Season of Joy, added sparkles to the centers, and stamped "Be Merry" from Warm Words in white craft ink. The 3-D snowflake is from Michael's.
